Daysha’s newest 10-min play, Mother Earth Day, which was written as part of PlayGround-LA’s Writer’s Pool for 2019-2020, was selected as the People’s Choice Award winner for PlayGround-LA’s Monday Night Reading Series in March 2020. This particular reading series was also part of Planet Earth Arts New Play Festival.

From October to March every year, PlayGround-LA holds a monthly reading series where it selects 6 new plays out of its writer’s pool to receive a lightly staged public reading. From those 6 plays presented for the evening, viewers get the chance to vote on which play was their favorite of the night.

Mother Earth Day tells the story of an aging black farmer who struggles with how to best pass on his family’s legacy to his two warring sons while awaiting news from Mother Earth about the future of their farm. It is available to read on New Play Exchange.
