The Beds We Make Selected For Plays For Us Reading Series

Daysha’s newest 10-min play, The Beds We Make, was selected for the 12th edition of Plays For Us, a play reading series founded by Kathryn Markey and Dee Pelletier to showcase stories about women over the age of 40.

PLAYS FOR US is an informal reading series for new plays that feature great roles for women in middle age and up. After an Actors Center roundtable on ageism and sexism and under the auspices of Company CoLabs, Kathryn Markey and Dee Pelletier began to curate a list of new plays with great roles for women.

Launched in 2018, Company CoLabs is a series at The Actors Center that offers a new framework for collaborative explorations among company members.

The Beds We Make tells the story of a competitive Christian mother and her mouthy, sarcastic daughter who both struggle with how to face the messy beds they have made after a long-kept secret is finally brought to light in a world where Roe v. Wade has been overturned. It is available to read on New Play Exchange.
