Daysha’s newest 10-min play, Waiting For Umoja, which was written as part of PlayGround-LA’s Writer’s Pool for 2020-2021, was selected as one of the top 6 plays for season 9 of PlayGround-LA’s Monday Night Reading Series. It will be featured in PlayGround-LA’s yearly Best of The Year Gala on April 12, 2021 at 7 PM PST.

Waiting For Umoja was also selected as the People’s Choice Award winner for PlayGround-LA’s Monday Night Reading Series for December 2020.

Waiting For Umoja tells the story of a young black liberal feminist who tries to enlist her opinionated, conflicted family in celebrating Kwanzaa for the first time during quarantine in 2020. It is available to read on New Play Exchange.
